Description

Cholesteryl nonanoate is a highly functional oil-based ingredient made by esterifying naturally derived cholesterol and nonanoic acid (pelargonic acid). It has high affinity with the skin, a soft feel and moisturizing properties, and is widely used as a texture improver and emollient. Nonanoic acid is a type of medium-chain fatty acid, has a light feel and moderate viscosity, and spreads well on the skin. It has a relatively light feel among cholesteryl esters, so it is possible to design formulations that are less sticky.
